ADVERTISING.
LONDON EXHIBITION. N.Z. REPRESENTATION. AN ASSURED SUCCESS. An exhibition devoted to the latest developments in advertising is held annually in London. It is In a sense one of the functions that go to make up what is called the London season. This year a special effort is being made to extend its importance and value. The exhibition will be international in character. Besides a great display at Olympia, the centre for functions such as the spectacular military pageant, the motor show, and equally
outstanding events, there will be a conference at which matters connected with publicity will be discussed from all angles by experts in advertising. The papers represented by the New Zealand Press Agency, the leading Dominion organisation in London, have arranged a display that will be creditable to this Dominion. The "Auckland Star," the "Dominion," Wellington, the "Times" and "Star," Christchurch, the "Evening Star," Dunedin, the "Daily News," New Plymouth, the "News," Invercargill, as well as the periodicals associated with those leading dailies in their own territories, liave combined to place New Zealand on the map at this exhibition. Major the Hon. J. J. Astor, chairman of the exhibition, to whose organising ability and enthusiasm the expansion of this annual event is attributable, writing from London, under date of March 14, to Sir Cecil Leys, managing director of New Zealand Newspapers, who is a member of the general committee of the exhibition, says: "I feel that you will be interested to hear that the organisation of the exhibition is progressing most satisfactorily, and that its success seems assured." It is both anticipated and hoped that New Zealand will receive tangible benefit from the publicity that this international function at Olympia will give the Dominion. Not only are the newspapers taking part, but a display has been arranged by the High Commissioner's office, which in the past few years has achieved a reputation for the excellence of its courts at various important fixtures. Mr. Percy Brett will be responsible for the display by the New Zealand Press Agency. The exhibition will extend from July 17 to 22.
