There have been slight alterations in some of the classes and the Adams Memorial Cup is now a 4.30 class, or six seconds tighter than last year. ROTORUA MEETING.
NON-TOTE FIXTURE. With the possibility of securing a totalisator permit next season, the newlyformed Rotorua Trotting Club will hold a non-totalisator meeting to-morrow. The acceptances for the six events are sufficient to provide good racing, and among the horses expected to compete are many recent winners. Nell Volo, . Indolent, Wiriwhata, Kohewah, Dark McKinney and Explosion represent the best class among the straight-out trotters in the province, and, with the exception of Explosion, all won during the past couple of moiiths. The pacing division has responded werl and the principal event, the Thermal Springs Handicap, has an acceptance of seven, all recent winners. Te Maluanga looks a likelv proposition, but he will not find it easy "to defeat Wee Machine at a difference of 24yds. It is to be hoped the meeting gets the support it deserves, as those responsible for its launching have taken a courageous step in view of existing conditions. F. J. Smith'left Takanini this morning with Nell Volo and Guid Hairst, -who are engaged at the Rotorua Trotting Club's non-tote meeting to-morrow.
TIGHTENED UP. In setting the limit of the Adams Memorial Cup at 4.30, the committee of the Auckland Trotting Club has made the class six.. seconds tighter than last year, but only two seconds tighter than recant big handicaps decided at Alexandra Park. The step seems to be one in the right direction, as it will tend to make a shortlimit handicap and give the best horses, liandicapped on the back marks, a chance to get a share of the prize money. It is possible horses from the South Island will be sent up for the meeting, and if some do come along they will be welcomed.
