FRENCH WARSHIP.
EARLY VISIT TO AUCKLAND. ARRIVING OX JUNE 3. A French sloop, the Savorgnan dc Brazza, is expected to arrive in Auckland from Tonga about S a.m. on Juno IS, according to information received from the JYcnch Consulate this morning. The vessel will leave again on June 10. The sloops Bougainville .and Savorgnan do Brazza have been admitted to active service and left Lorient on February 10 last to make a long cruise, ending at Casablanca. They have, now loft this last port for tho distant stations to which they have boon appointed — the Bougaiifiile to the Indian Ocean station and Madagascar, and the Savorgnan do Brazza to the naval forces of the Far East. These new sloops, of 2000 tons, have Diesel motors and a speed of 15.5 knots, which has boon very much increased in the- speed trials. They carry three guiu of 138 in.m., fou rof 37 ni.ni., alto a light hydroplane. Their crew oensists of 14 officers and 120 men. The yhavc been specially built for warmer climates. They arc the first and second of a scries of six sloops , of which the- D union t d'Urvillo has already been sent to the Far East. The Savorgnan dc Zrazza, on her way to Auckland, calls at the following places: Casablanca, Fort-de-France, Colon, Panama, Hivaoa and the Marquises Islands, Fakarava, Papeete, th eSoeiety Islands and the Iles-sous-lc-vent, Pago Pago and Ami, Apia, Vavao and Tonga Tabu. From Auckland tho sloop will go to New Caledonia, the Loyalty Group, Tort Vila and the Hebrides, Port Moresby, Yule- Island, Macassar and Saigon.
