VALUABLE TERRITORY.
ANTARCTIC POSSESSION. LONDON, May 11. Tho value of the Antarctic area recently placed under the authority of the Commonwealth of Australia has been quickly proved.
Mr. Dilwyn John, chief scientist on he Discovery, told "The Sun" that, though the ship went only 70 miles inside the new Commonwealth territory, observations revealed abundant fish life.
It was probably the best whaling ground in Antarctica, providing a wonderful opportunity for Australia to establish the industry, provided that it was not fished too drastically. Such success had killed other districts.
