AUSTRALIAN PRICE OF GOLD. The Commonwealth Bank's price for sovereigns at head office, Sydney, was 6d higher at 35/. MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Ix>ng Trail. —Report for period ending May 1, 1933: No. 1 rise over the 100 ft level was carried up to 43ft above the level. As the desired height has been reached the work has been stopped. This rise has tested the reef north of the pay ore shoot and has defined the pitch of the shoot, also provided a storage hopper and pass to the 100 ft level and ventilated the 100 ft level. The intermediate level on No. 1 reef has been advanced to 28ft. a further 12ft of driving will connc-ot with No. 1 rise and nnother 20ft will enter the pay ore shoot. It is now fairly evident that the pay ore pitches across* the fault and that the ore showing in the 10ft level east of the fault is the downward pitch of the rich shoot worked by McNeil and sons. A trial crushing of six tons taken from Sunday reef for a width of 4ft Cin gave an assay value of £2 7/ per ton from a lip of the box sample. A stockwork of leaders and country, which shows on the roadway midway between the mine and battery, gave encouraging results when tested in the dish. This formation is about 20ft wide and will be intersected In the crosscut which it is prposed to drive to intersect No. 2 leader and Sunday reef. Golconda.—During the week, the following work has been in progress:—We have timbered up the crosscut going north ; on the hangingwall dropper and not much quartz has been broken. The nuartz shows nice colours of gold and zinc blende. 70ft level: We extended the drive on the reef I towards the slide Sft and a few colours of gold were seen. The reef is wider than the drive and the ore is carrying nice minerals and zinc blonde. In the stope coming back from this face towards tlie shaft we advanced Sft. This is the objective where we will cut the junction of the main reef, and the branch reef that was cut when sinking the shaft. We are leaving ii pillnr in so as to protect the shaft. We could not work this junction before as it would have interfered with the sinking nf the shaft to deeper levels. The ore looks very nromlsing and the reef is wider than the stope. Dawn of Hope (Thames). —Work has been confined to stoping on the haiigingwall dropper of the Golden Age reef. We have seen a little gold in the st<»ne broken, and both the leader and the country rock have ii better appearance than that passed through last week. Several of the , tributers are selecting a little picked stone from the parts they are vrorkiujr. J
