EGG SHORTAGE.

ANOTHER RISE IN PRICES. The manager of a wholesale firm this morning, said that a shortage of eggs was being experienced all over the Dominion. Although at present the shortage in Auckland was not as serious as in Dunedin, where retailers were limiting purchases to half a dozen per customer, it promised, in his opinion, to become equally as serious. The present wholesale prices of eggs were: First grade, 2/3 i per dozen; second grade, 1/11J; third grade, 1/7*. To-morrow there would be a big rise in first grade eggs to 2/5 J per dozen. In accounting for the shortage, lie said that only half of the usual amount of eggs had been put in cool storage from the abundant supply in the flush of the season. "The number in cool storage is the shortest for three years," he explained. "I think dealers had been frightened of the position ahead, due to the depression, when putting their eggs into cool storage.',' He said that some firms were working on their cool storage supplies. At the flush of the past season the price of eggs was Old per dozen.
