PUBLIC WORKS LOAN.
Internal Australian Issue of £5,000,000. 4| PER CENT AT PAR. j (Received 12 noon.) CANBERRA, this day. The Commonwealth Government announces that the Loan Council has agreed to the flotation of a new internal loan for public works of £5,000,000 at 4J per cent at par, redeemable in 1942. AUSTRALIAN PLANS. NAVAL SQUADRON INTENDED. (Received 10 a.m.) CANBERRA, this day. The cruiser Australia will shortly be refitted and transferred to the Royal Navy in exchange for a Leander type of vessel, which is coming here. The Government hopes, when the financial position permits, to have an Australian squadron of four of the Leander class, a flotilla of destroyers, the aircraftcarrier Albatross, which is to be recommissioned, as well as survey sloops.
