SOUTH CANTERBURY TITLE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TIMARU, Saturday. Mass Jean Horwell retained the South Canterbury women's golf championship by decisively defeating Miss F. l'ringle, three up and one In the final match on the Highfield links this morning. The youthful title-holder had to fight hard over the first nine holes, and was two down until the seventh, where she reduced her opponent's lead to one. She was still behind at the turn. On the return journey she squared the score at the tenth, but lost the next one. On the flat, Miss Pringle, who over the first nine holes had played sound golf, went to pieces.
