REDUCED ACREAGE.

WHEAT AREA IN CANADA. (Received 12.30 p.m.) OTTAWA, May 10. Determination to hold down the Canadian wheat acreage is seen in a reduction of the estimated spring wheat area from 26,646,100 acres in 1932 to 25,171,000 acres this year. The drop surprised experts, who had believed that the recent price advances would result in at least a slight increase over last year. The decrease was confined mainly to the Prairie Provinces. The weather has been slightly warmer and more settled since May 1, but work on land and seeding operations are still more backward than any year since 1928, the report also notes.
