SECTARIAN STRIFE.
Auckland lias been pained and grievfjjl I>7 false a.nd hateful attacks made bv certain preachers against those of other denominations during the past few weeks. To libel and vilify the Pope, as has been done, is thoroughly anti-Christian, for true Christianity is love. It is easy for the Protectant pot to call the Roman Catholic kettle black, and vice versa, but what good does that do? "Hatred stir" reth up strifes: but love covereth all sins."— Prov. x., 12. Far better is it for the various sects to take the advice of our GovernorGeneral in the Town Hall on Sunday last, and emphasise the points on which we agree, rather than those on which we differ. God is the loving Father of all men, and we should lo ye our brethren of all creeds and endeavour to cultivate in one another the supreme and all" bracing virtue of God-like love. PAX.
