The rig is designed on the staysail-schooner principle and is comparatively small, although eminently suitable for cruising. The vessel is diagonally built with three skins, making a total thickness of 2sin —all first-class selected kauri. The keel was made out of one log of kauri 14in square and 54ft long. The decking is Burma teak, 2§in wide and lAin thick. Under the teak decking is a diagonal deck of lin kauri.
The main cabin, which is in the centre of the vessel, is 12ft Oin by 16ft Gin, the galley is Bft by Bft, the bathroom Bft by Oft Oin, and the owner's cabin lift by 14ft. The craft has also a crew's cabin and two small cabins, each Bft by 6ft Oin.

In addition there is a separate generating plant and for this a Parsons 15/20 horse-power engine connected to a 10 kw. generator will be nscd to supply lighting and power. Storage batteries are of 30,000-watt capacity, and supply an electric stove, set in gimbals, with an electric hot water heater for the galley and for the bathroom. Bilge and water supply pumps are electrically controlled, and a three horse-power electric doubleanchor winch is to be installed. All controls arc handy to the helmsman aft._ Panelled in teak and upholstered in blue leather, the main saloon is a particularly attractive room. Altogether the schooner, which is painted white, is as noteworthy addition to Auckland's fleet.
