NAVY MEN PRAISED.
HELPING PASSENGERS. SYDNEY, May 10. Maunganui passengers are loud in their praise of 20 naval ratings of the ships Dunedin, Diomede and Philomel for the assistance rendered by them 011 the trip from New Zealand. They were on the way to the Flinders Island naval base to undergo training. One rating bathed six babies, whose parents were too ill to perform the task. All the ratings volunteered to assist at the tables and in the galley when others went down with seasickness. At a meeting of the first saloon passengers prior to the vessel's arrival, a letter was addressed to Captain Toten expressing their great appreciation of the splendid efforts of the ship's staff in providing the maximum of comfort and service under trying conditions.
