SMUTS TO GANDHI.
PLEA TO DELAY FASTING. (Received IO.SO a.m.) - CAPETOWN, May 2. General Smuts has cabled to Gandhi urging him to delay his proposed fasting,, saying: "You are endangering your life and might lead to a dr(>adful calamity." . It is understood that the Government of India will shortly consider their responsibility under gaol rules requiring forcible feeding to prevent death by starvation.
