MAORI MAN PROSECUTED.
MASQUERADED AT DANCES.
Ahurangi Matene Rapaha, aged 29 years, was charged in the Pukekohe Police Court to-day with being an idle and disorderly person in that, without lawful excuse, he affected a disguise.
Sergeant J. T. Cowan explained that the accused, a Maori, had come to Puke- ' kohe about six months ago. and had gone about dressed as a girl, and had attended dancer as a girl. Accused appeared to have been unfortunate in his upbringing, in that he bad evidently been cncouraged to dress as a female. He was arrested at Pukekohe Hall. His employer was prepared to keep him in his service. The justices decided to convict and discharge accused. They said he would no doubt tako warning and dress as a man.
