MAHAKIPAWA. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRTSTCHURCIT, Friday. Mahakipawa Goldfields, T>d. (Marlborough), reports a return for tlie week of 320z. KING SOLOMON. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, Friday. The wash-un at tlie King Solomon Deep Lead mine (Gore) tills week totalled 660z 13dwt for five days' work. BIG RIVER DEVELOPMENT. Tlie report of Bier River Gold Mines, Ltd., for the venr ended December 31. states that £1975 was expended in reconditioning mnic work and plant. £2333 in mine development, and £1372 on brokerage, promotion and other charges. A sum of £332 was received by way of subsidy from the Mines Department, to be repaid out of lirst Pronts from mininpr operations. Additional capital was raised by the issue of 122.900 reserve shares at 1/ each. The headquarters of the company now having been definitely fixed at Tteefton. the following directors will not be offering themselves for reelection :—Messrs. A. de B. Brandon. G. W. ' Magnus. A. 11. The secretary of tlie Bell Hooper Cromwell Gold Company reports that all worlt is proceeding satisfactorily at the company's claim. The winch and motor tor hauling the trucks up tlie incline to the bins are on the ground, and foundations for these are being laid. It is expected that within three weeks wash will be taken from the No. 1 tunnel. The contractor at No. 2 tunnel, ten chains downstream, is making good progress. The electric power ' poles are now on the claim, and the power should be available within the next fortnight Very many visitors from all over New Zealand visited the claim during the Easter holidays. Tlie following Information has been cabled to London :—For the period ended April 15, comprising crushing days, 1(5.893 tons of ore were crushed for a result ol »>o4h ! fine ounces of gold, and 2S.SOCi tine ounces iof silver. This includes 1908 tons mined ' from the Junction area, which yielded 843 i ounces of gold and 4995 ounces of silver. | No. 5 Level. —At 204 ft west of Ta.vI lor crosscut, we have commerced a cross- | cut to north, which is out 137 ft. At 103 ft I there is a vein of quartz Gin wide, assaying 35/6 per ton. The course of this is CS degrees, and the dip 1 in 7 north. No. 11 Level.—Driving west on the centre section of the Empire lode: The next 14ft assays 51/9 per ton. The lode is about sft wide 80ft sublevel : Driving west on the Royal lode the next 30ft assays 10/(5 per ton, and driving is suspended. At 53ft west the full width of the lode is 10ft, and the assay value 49/ per ton. MANAGERS' REPORTS. Golden Dawn. —The following is the mine report for two weeks ending April 22:— No. 3 level : Drive north on No. 3 reef has been driven 20rt, total 300 ft. from north end of old stopes. The reef here averages ISin wide and the ore by assay of good value. No. 3 level : Drive south on No. 3 reef has been driven uft, total 20ft. from south end of old stopes. The reef here averages 121n and the ore by assay of good l value. Intermediate level : Drive south on | No. 3 reef from south end of stopes has been driven Oft, total 70ft, from crosscut. I The reef here averages 15in wide, and the j ore by assay is of good value. No. 3 level: ; Stoping has been carried on in four blocks on No. 3 reef with machines working three shifts. The reef here averages 2ft wide, and the ore by assay of very fair value. Stoping lias also been carried on in two blocks on No. 1 reef with machines working three shifts. The reef here averages 2ft Clin wide, and the ore of very fair value. No. 2 level : Stoping has also been carried on in one block on No. 1 reef with machines working three shifts. The reef here averages 2ft Oin wide, and the ore of fair value.
