SNAKES PROTECT JEWELS.

NOTICE TO BURGLARS

This case contains jewels. Beware of the poisonous snakes!

This notice appears on a case of jewels owned by a wompn occupying a large house in Mayfair, London. The snakes are real. No attempt has ever been made to steal the jewels, which are worth thousands of pounds. The snakes were supplied by Mr. G. E. Palmer, an animal dealer, of Camden Town, who sends the woman a weekly supply of food for the reptiles. They live in a glass case containing another in which the jewels are kept.
