ONEHUNGA RELIEF.
VALUABLE AID* TO FAMILIES.
Valuable help had been given to the relief workers and their families, stated the report presented last night at the annual meeting of the Onehunga Relief Committee. Goods had been purchased and sold to relief workers on the timepayment system —a email deposit and an order for the deduction of 1/ per week from their wages. These included 320 pairs of men's boots, of the value of £283 13/7, 50 pairs of ladies' shoes, valued at £25 17/3, and 150 articles of men's clothing, £89 1/, making a total of £353 11/10 expended in Onehunga. The repayments to date amounted to £327 14/0. Free distribution, the report stated, included 2000 new garments,, 50 pairs of new shoes to women and children,, with] 100 parcels of used clothing to botlr sexes. From May last to October 801 families had received a weekly supply of meat. On Christmas Eve 150 joints of meat were distributed, and on New Year's Eve 100 joints. The vegetables distributed comprised 160 bags of potatoes, 100 bags of cabbages, 300 packets of vegetable seeds; also groceries, medicine and fuel. The total receipts amounted to xaHZ, and the expenditure, including outstanding liabilities, £560, leaving a credit balance of £32. The report and balance-sheet were adopted, and the meeting adjourned until May.
