SHOT THROUGH NECK.

DOCTOR CUTTING HEDGE.

BOY WITH PEA-RIFLE,

(By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.")

WANGANUI, this day.

An extraordinary incident occurred yesterday at Gonville, when a wellknown resident, 3>r. Porritt, while engaged in cutting a hedge, was shot in the neck by a boy with a pea-rifle.

The boy had made the mistake of thinking that the movements were those of a bird. The pellet passed through the back of Dr. Porritt's neck, fortunately without causing serious injury.
