SOCCER CODE.

SATURDAY'S FIXTURES.

COMPETITIONS COMMENCE,

REP. MATCH WITH NAVY TEAM.

All competition games from third grade open upwards, will commence on Saturday, and fixtures and referees were confirmed at the meeting of the control board of the A.F.A. last night.

Final arrangements for the Auckland versus the Navy fixture at Biandford Park on Saturday week were also completed by the board. Supporters of the code will possibly have an opportunity of seeing in this match seven members of the New Zealand team to tour Australia, the six local representatives and Crabbe, of South Auckland. A collection toward the benefit fund of the North Auckland Association for the family of the late Mr. J. Akers, a well-known player who lost his life in a mine accident at Hikurangi, will be made at this match.

In view of the large number of teams in the senior grade, and the fact of June 3 falling on a Saturday, the suggested fixture with South Auckland for that date was reluctantly dropped. ' The New Zealand Council notified the association that entries for the Chatham Cup competition would close at Wellington on May 15. The eagerness of players suffering from slight concussion to return to the field of play, with subsequent serious results, was a practice which the New Zealand Council wished the control board to strongly discbuntenance, and appealed to referees to order such players off if necessary. The following transfers were sent forward from the senior division committee as being in order:—J. Galloway, from New Lynn-Bon Accord to Thistle; A. G. Gavan, from Thistle to Tramways; T. H. C.
