FARMERS' BALL.
The Mangere Hall last evening was the setting for a thoroughly successful and picturesque dance, when the master and members of the Pakuranga Hunt Club gave a farmers' ball. Large cardboard hounds cut out and painted by the huntsman, Mr. P. H. Smith, were suspended round the walls, and bunting and greenery gave a gay tone to the decorations. Popular hunting choruses, including "John Peel,"- added to the jolly atmosphere. Huntsmen's scarlet coate were worn by the Blind Institute orchestra, extra good airs, including sporting numbers, being loudly applauded. In the unavoidable absence of the master, Mr. H. Bullock Webster, the guests were received by the deputymaster, Dr. and Mrs. McGregor Grant, assisted by Mr. R. D. Neal, secretary of the club, and the members of the hunt committee and their wives. Guy, black chiffon; Mrs. F. Wright, cornflower blue floral georgette; Mrs. A. G. Quartley, fuchsia pink glace silk; Mrs. W. Neal, black satin; Mrs. F. Price, rose du Barri satin beaute; Mrs. Solomon, blue satin, inset with lace; Mrs. G. Wooller, scarlet and white satin; Mrs. R. White, maize taffeta; Mrs. Green, black taffeta; Mrs. J. Appleby, apricot ninon; Mrs. Pegler, primrose glace silk; Mrs. Barlow, black fische net; Mrs. N. Jones, black ring velvet; Mrs. R. Harris, black georgette, relieved with scarlet and white; Mrs. C. Allan, deep brown satin; Mrs. Beard, black georgette; Mrs. W. Bellingham, black satin; Mrs. Fox, lilac souple satin; Mrs. L. Gillard, black ninon; Mrs. R.
