GRAMMAR SCHOOL.
SERVICE AND PARADE Over 600 pupils, old boys and parents attended the service in the Auckland Grammar School Hall yesterday morning. The school prayer and the.passage "Let Us Now Praise Famous Men" were read by the headmaster, Mr. H. J. D. Mahon, and the hymns "I Vow to Thee, My Country," and "0 Valiant Hearts" were sung. Lieutenant O. E. Burton addressed the gathering. Against -the horror and waste of war he contrasted the valour of the men who faced it, and referred to individual acts of bravery to the credit of old boys and masters of the school. He pointed out the need of similar courage in facing the difficulties of the present world. . After the service the cadet battalion, under Major K. J. Dellow, paraded at the school War Memorial, where two wreaths were laid. A largely attended service for students of the Takapuna Grammar School yesterday morning wae opened with the singing of Kipling's "Eecessional." After one of the girls had read the lesson for the day, Mr. C. E. Archibald (Takapuna), secretary of the Auckland branch of the League of Nations Union, spoke on New Zealand's part' in the war, its aftermath'and the League of Nations.
