WAIUKU NEWS.
The employees of Wallace Supplies made a presentation to Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Kemp on the eve of their departure for Dargaville. Mr. Waters, in making the presentation, made reference to the cordial relations that had always existed between Mr. Kemp and the employees. Mr. Kemp has been connected with the Waiuku branch for some 20 years. He leaves to take charge of the firm's Dargaville branch.
At the annual meeting of the Waiuku Dramatic Society the following officers were elected: President, Mr. Waugh; secretary and treasurei - , Miss Sawes; committee, Misses Jamieson and Duthie and Mr. Henderson.
The annual meeting of the Otaua Drainage Board was presided over by Mr. Ballantyne. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £375. The chairman said the board was in a strong financial position. The work to be maintained had been divided and a portion allocated to each member. All the work had been maintained-out of rates, and they were in the satisfactory position of having no overdraft. They would be able to hand over a clean sheet to the new board in November next. The total liability of the board was only £1350, a Government loan. It was decided that the rate for the current year be struck at l-10d less than last year's rate.
