Airman. CAPTAIN ROBBIANO'S FATE. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received -10.30 a.m.) LONDON, April 18. A Calcutta message states that there is no sign of Captain Robbiano, the Italian air ace, who left Croydon, England, on Sunday, April 9, and was reported missing a week later. He was endeavouring to fly to Australia in record time.

It is now reported that the body' of a European found by a fisherman, together with aeroplane wreckage, on a small island off'the coast of Bengal, is believed to be that of Captain Robbiano. v

The wreckage is thought to be that of the 'plane of the missing airman and is being sent to "Calcutta for identification.

POOR PROSPECTS. Little Hope Held Out for Safety Of Lancaster. MISSING IN DESERT. (Received 1 p.m.) PARIS, April 18. An official of the Trans-Sahara Company states that if Captain Lancaster, the British airman who has been missing since his departure across the desert on his flight to Capetown, is in the Tanezruft desert, there is little chance of his being found alive. Sand storms are preventing further search. There is, however, the slender hope that he may have encountered a caravan of nomad tribes. BIG MACHINE FOR N.Z. Three-Engine Passenger 'Plane Bought at Auction. ONE OF " SMITHY'S" PLEET. SYDNEY, April 18. At an auction sale of the property of the Australian National Airways (in liquidation), a passenger aeroplane, the Southern Sky, was purchased on behalf of Mr. .H. M. Mackay, managing director of New Zealand Airways. The price was £2150. The machine will remain In Sydney pending advice from New Zealand. It is a triple-engined craft with accommodation for eight passengers.

Mr. H. M. Mackay, of Dunedin, was a passenger in the Southern Cross when the monoplane was flown from NinetyMile Beach to Sydney on March 20. He returned to New Zealand by the Monterey last week. Australian National Airways was commenced by "Smithy" and Ulm.

MRS. BONNEY'S FLIGHT. PROGRESS IN EAST INDIES. (Received 10.30 a.m.) BATAVIA, April* 18. Mrs. Bonney, the Australian airwoman, who is on a flight to -England, arrived at Batavia yesterday forenoon. She left for Singapore at 6.30 : a.m. today and arrived safely.
