RECEIPTS BELOW ESTIMATE.

BANK OVERDRAFT OF £5262,

In a statement of receipts and expenditure for the year ended March 31, submitted to the Onehunga Borough Council last night by the town clerk, it was disclosed that the receipts from rates fell short of the estimates by £J147, which shortage was stated to have contributed largely to the bank overdraft, which now etandfl at \ £5262. Expenditure exceeded the estimates by £2272 5/0. Tie debit balance was £4399 6/2 on March 31 last. The principal items causing the overdraft were: Rate shortage, £3147; Hillsboro Cemetery, shorfof estimates, £306} new motor truck, £300; special payment to Moipt Roskill Road Board towards tar-sealing Hillsboro' Road, £250; special pajment to relief workers, £164; special loan repayments, .£1011; total, £5178. The new reservoir, etc., has cost to date £5958 15/10, including interest on overdraft; £2000 was paid off account during the financial year, leaving a balance of £3958 15/10. I Current rates collected amounted to 79 per cent, and arrears of rates collected to 40 per cent. Rates outstanding total £12,100, of which approximately £6000 are Crown rates.
