TRADE AGREEMENTS.
Wide Range Indicated in House
Of Commons.
ARGENTINA AND EUROPE,
(British Official Wireless.)
(Received 9.30 a.m.) RUGBY, April 14. A wide range of new trade agreements was indicated by the President of the Board of Trade, Mi*. Walter Runciman, in the House of Commons. Following is a summary of results so far reached: —- Argentina: Negotiations are proceeding satisfactorily, and there is hope of a satisfactory outcome in the near future. Sweden: The basis of agreement will be submitted to Parliament shortly after Easter. Norway and Denmark: Heads of agreement have been reached with the prospect of considerable expansion of trade. Germany: An agreement is being arranged which will go a long way towards doubling the amount of British coal exports to Germany. British duties on certain German goods are to be reduced. The agreements are expected to be ratified as soon as possible after Easter. Mr. Runciman said the agreements would benefit exporting areas over a wide range of British industries. Concessions had, of course, been made, but the Government had taken into consideration the interests of the country as a whole. Mr. George Lansbury, leader of the Labour party, welcomed Mr. Runciman's statement.
