SPLITTING BALSA WOOD
Model aeroplane' builders will find the following suggestion useful Balsa wood strips for building model 'planes can be cut rapidly and accurately by using the adjustable cutting block illustrated. A razor blade, A, preferably of the double-edged type, is clamped securely between the wide and narrow parts of the baseboard, B. It is advis-
able to drive a nail or a long, thin screw through the lower hole of the blade, and another just behind it to prevent the blade from turning down Into the crack. The guide C is fastened by means of two bolts and wing nuts D at from the blade equal to the width or thickness of the strips to be cut. The balsa stock is then pushed along the base block against the blade.
