CHRYSANTHEMUM SHOW.
On April 20 and 21 the Auckland Horticultural Society intends holding the annual chrysanthemum show in the Town Hall. The arrangements are to lay out the show ,in the form of a Japanese garden. The season so far has been good enough to expect some first-class blooms. There has been a little more rust than usual, d'ue in a measure to the dry weather; at the same time the plants have made firm wood, and good buds, and good blooms should develop. The only fear may be that the blooms are a little late in opening. The show should be worth a visit from everybody interested in flowers, and few people will pass a good bloom unnoticed no matter where it is. This is a time when few of us have a "bob" to spare for luxuries, but can a visit to a flower show be considered as a luxury ? Flowers are essential to everyone of us, and the efforts of the A.H.S. to foster the cultivation of the various kinds, are the coccern of everyone, and should receive every support possible.
