Messrs. C. M. Kichwhite and Cory Wright have returned to Auckland from the South. Sir. G. N. Morris, S.M., of Whangare!, is on a visit to Auckland, and is at the Station Hotel. Sir George Fowlds, Mr. T. U. Wells and Mr. J. A. C. Allum returned to Auckland yesterday. Messrs. W. J. Broadfoot, M.P. for Waitomo, and W. E. Barnard, M. P. for Napier, are visiting Auckland. The Hon. M. Fagan, it. Semple, M.P. for Wellington Ea.,;. Un ! Mr. J. N. Massey, M.P., arrived m Auckland yesterday. Mr. George Baildon left on Thursday night by the Limited on a business visit to the South. He will return in from two to three weeks' time. The Hon. J. A. "Young, Minister of Internal Affairs, who arrived on Thursday morning, left yesterday morning en route for Mangawai, where he will spend Easter week on his farm. r ■~ Mr. F. H. Gifford, acting-manager of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Shipping Company, has been appointed local manager here, according to a Press Association message from Wellington. Sir. F. H. Cooke, who lias held the position of Crown Solicitor at Palmerston North for many years, has been obliged to resign owing to ill-health. He will "be succeeded by Mr. H. It. Cooper. The Eev. Clarence Eaton, president of the Methodist Conference of New Zealnad, arrived in Cliristchurch this week to take up his appointment at the Durham Street Church. He was previously in charge of the Whiteley Memorial Church, New Plymouth.
