Miss E. Ash, of Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, England, who readied Auckland on the Rangitane, has come to New Zealand to train teachers of lip reading. She will also qive lessons in lip reading l<> members of the New Zealand League for the Hard of Hearing. She is the guest of Mrs. G. A. Hurd-Wood, Brooklyn Flats.
Miss L. Lee, Nurse Inspector in the Health. Department, is taking up the position of acting-matron superintendent for the Marlborough Hospital Board. Miss Lee will be relieving Miss Lewis, who leaves Blenheim on April 27 ona 12 months' visjt to England. While abroad Miss Lewis will be one of New Zealand's representatives at the International Nursing Conference at Paris in July. ~ .
Mount Aspiring, the monarch of the Southern peaks, attracts many people with the desire to conquer its glorious heights. One party comprised of Misses M. B. Scott and M. L. Roberts and Guides A. C. Graham and G. J. H. Cox recently returned to Pembroke from a month's climbing there. The party rcaehed a point 500 ft. below the summit, but unfortunatcl/ had to g' v 'c. in On a.ccount of the weather. Guide L°x stated that the rock found on Afipnin? was very fine for climbing on. This factor, of course, helps the climbers in their strenuous task,
