24 YEARS' SERVICE

THAMES, Thursday.

Mr. A. Chapman, who has been town clerk and treasurer of the borough since 1909, thi6 morning tendered his resignation to the commissioner, on the ground of ill-health. Mr. Chapman was born and educated in Napier, and joined the branch of the Colonial Bank there. Later, when the Bank of New Zealand was formed, he was transferred to Patea, Auckland, Coromandel and Thames. When the late Mr. A. Bruce retired from the position of town clejk in 1909 Mr. Chapman was , appointed towil clerk and treasurer.
