RESERVOIRS LOW.
DUNEDIN WANTS RAIN.
NEW WATER SOURCE.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
DUNEDIN, this day.
Duriedin is still crying out for water, the reservoirs being low and necessitating restrictions on the supply. Any scheme to augment the supply would be> welcomed, by the City Council, which has now before it a report that is almost certain to be adopted. The water committee recommends obtaining 2,500,000 gallons a day from a deep crteek near Dunedin at a total estimated cost of £180,000. The work presents no enginering difficulties, and the scheme is capable of considerable extension to meet future needs. The daily requirements of Dunpdin ate 4,908,000
gallons. The work would involve an expenditure of about £140,000 in labour, and ehould .provide employment for a considerable number of men.
