UNIVERSITY COUNCIL.

The Auckland University College Council met yesterday afternoon, the president, Sir George Fowlds, presiding.

On the recommendation of the education committee it was decided to hold a special meeting of the council on the evening of May 1 to consider the more important items in the report drawn up by the registrar as the result of his visit to a number of universities overseas.

The matter of pending staff retirements was referred to the education committee. A report on the Subject will be placed before the next meeting of the council.

The professor of architecture reported that Messrs. R. B. Gibb and W. C. de Rune Barclay had qualified for the college diploma in architecture.

Dr. A. J. Harrop was appointed the representative of the college on the Universities Bureau of the British Empire.
