REDUCE STRENGTH.
BRITISH ARMY IN INDIA. CALCUTTA, April 9. The Legislative Assembly has passed a bill amending the Auxiliary Force Act by which the Government hopes to save 1,500,000 rupees (£112,500) a year. Many people resent the bill, fearing the unwisdom of reducing the strength of British volunteer corps.
