Gas snares were in demand. Christchurch preferences were asked for at £1 5/6, Wellington at £1 10/, and the locals at £1 1/1. Breweries, also, were wanted, and buyers for New Zealands moved up to £1 8/3. The scrip of Northern Roller Mills was placed on the official list, and there were buyers for the ordinary shares at 19/ and for "the preference at 17/. The Noon Call. At the noon call there were few changes. Government stock quotations were unaltered. Bank of Australasia shares were available at £10 10/ and Commercials at 14/5. LONDON, April 8. There was a sharp' recovery in German bonds on the London Stock Exchange to-day as the result of the statement submitted to the annual meeting of the. Iteichsbank by the president, Dr. Schacht. He discounted rumours that Germany intends .to abandon the gold standard. Dr. Schacht added that the Reichsbank was pursuing the single- aim of the stability of the mark.
