ELLERSLIE MEETING.
VISITING HORSES WORK. SILVER SCORN- IN GOOD ORDER. Silver Scorn was given useful work at EUerslie this morning, being allotted a couple of rounds on the tan track. She looks in first-class condition for her coming classic engagements at the Auckland meeting. Silver Scorn has thickened out a little since she was here for the summer meeting, but this is only to be expected for one of her age. D. O'Connor will ride her in her races here. Her stablemate Muff was also given useful work, and is a likely looking sort who should run well in hack events during the meeting. Princess Doreen was given easy pace work on the two-year-old track, and has grown into a handsome looking filly. At her last start this filly ran second to Golden Hair in the Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes, a seven-furlong event, and she will be a candidate for the Champagne Stakes on Saturday, run over a similar distance.
The Easter Handicap candidate Inflation was given: steafly exercise over a circuit of the tan. So far no rider has been engaged for him. He is more solid looking than when he raced at the Te Aroha meeting, which was his last visit north. Taking a line through his form when he ran second to Golden Wings in the North Island Challenge Stakes, seven furlongs, which wae run in 1.24%, which constituted a new record for the race, his prospects in the mile event at EUerslie cannot he under-estimated. Wee Prince (E. Garrett) was schooled over the steeplechase fences on the flat, and .got through his task safely. He jumped a bit _ high at some of the obstacles, but is sure to improve with experience.
