OPERATION OF ACT

Finality has now been " reached by j Cabinet over the administration of the Small Farms (Relief of Unemployment) Act, which was passed by Parliament last session. | The Hon. E. A. Ramson, Minister of Lands, will be charged with the administration of the Act, in accordance with a decision reached by the Ministry at the week-end. There had been some difference' of opinion in Cabinet as to whether the development of the new poliov which the legislation introduced shouid be in the hands of its author, the Rt. Hon. .T. G. Coates, Minister of Finance and Customs, or whether the subject was one for the Minister ot Lands to handle. With the administration issue settled, steps are now being completed to constitute the special board of five which will assist in the administration and endeavour to promote the settlement of approved persons on suitable areas of land in accirdance with the far-reaching J provisions of the legislation. j
