SPECULATORS BUYING.
TO-DAY'S QUOTATION, 65/ TO 67/.
The slightly tetter tone noted yesterday on the London butter market has apparently been maintained, and to-day's cables seem to indicate that this week's values have touched bottom iu the meantime. Ono merchant's advice that speculators are- buying is significant. Cables received this morning from Tooley Street follow: —■
Mr. H. S. Withers, from A. C. Bowson.—Cheese, white, 38/ per cwt; coloured, 46/. Demand moderate. New Zealand butter, €6/ to 67/ per cwt. Demand increased and confined mostly to brokers on account or speculators.
Messrs. Allen and Findlay, Ltd. (from Messrs. Armour and Co.).—Butter: Market quiet but firm. New Zealand, salted, 65/ to 67/ per cwt; unsalted, 65/ to 68/; Australian, salted, 63/ to 65/; unsalted, 64/ to 66/; Danish, SS/ to 90/. Cheese: Market steadier. New Zealand, white, 37/ to 38/ per cwt; coloured, 44/ to 46/; Canadian, white and coloured, 64/ to 65/.
New Zealand Producers' Co-operative Marketing Association, Ltd. — Butter steady after quiet week. Cheese steady. Butter: New Zealand, C 5/ to C 7/ per cwt; Danish, 00/ to 01/. Cheese: White, 37/ to 38/ per cwt; coloured, 44/ to "4G/.
Messrs. A. H. Turnbull and Co. (from W. Weddel and Co.). —Butter: Danish, 90/ to 91/ per ewt; New Zealand, 6alted, 05/ to 07/; Australian, 02/ to 05/. Cheese: New Zealand, white, 37/ to 38/ per cwt; coloured, 44/ to 46/.. Markets steadier.
The police are now searching for the body.
