GREAT JOURNEY AHEAD.
Some time ago a journalist discovered that he was afflicted with a malady that should have led to an operation years before. Nothing could be done for him. It was only a question of weeks at the most ere he would uclergo the great change. Shortly before the end he wrote an article giving his thoughts and feelings. Here is a touching extract from it: Mystery stands ahead of me? I will penetrate it? What shall I find beyond? I wonder. But what I, hope is to find my power of thought and understanding expanded, my capacity for work renewed. What is to be my task there? I cannot fathom. But I anticipate that problems of thought, of life which baffled me here will be P clear there. A great journey The feeling that dominates me is not fear, but wonder, anticipation, eager expectation. • . •., One last thing. I have tried to avoid here any conventional religious phrases. But in these closing days I have found old-fashioned religion, hard as it was in life to try to observe, a very good thing to have by one now. I shall.not be left to enter the new world alone. . .--.'.>.••
