LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
COUNCIL MEETING. AUSTRALIAN VISIT MOOTED. The council of the New Zealand Rugby League last evening adopted a recommendation to be dealt with at the annual meeting this month for the advisability of inviting an Australian team to tour New Zealand during the season. Mr. Cyril Snedden presided. Several letters were received from the Wellington League in regard to recent reorganisation work. The nomination of Mr. E. Dale as chairman for the ensuing year was approved. It was stated that Mr. Dale was a well-known business man, and previously had experience of management in Canterbury. The successful re-establishlhent of the code in Hawke's Bay was referred to with considerable appreciation. The secretary advised that < suitable offices and club rooms had been' secured in Napier. Six senior teams would take the field. It was decided to defer the Hawkes Bay application for affiliation pending further report; and to grant the new body a sum of £10 as a loan towards initial expenses. Other correspondence was dealt with from Taranaki and Northland Leagues, the former having been supplied with details of the Auckland League insurance scheme.
