PROVINCIAL NEWS.

WAIMAUKU. A successful bring and buy was held in the Waimauku Hall on Saturday, in aid of St. Martin's Church. During the afternoon musical and elocutionary items were given by Mesdames A. Burrell, J. Adkina and I. Levett and Misses E. Coughlan, Nola. Stewart and Master Terry Collins. The Sunday dinner was won, by Mrs. J. Martin, and the prize for guessing musical items was won by Miss May Bartlett, of Auckland. The various- stalls were in charge of the ladies of St. Martin's social committee.

A social evening was held in the local hall on Wednesday by members of the Loyal Waimauku M.U.1.0.0.F. Games, dancing and cards ware enjoyed, a flirtation waltz causing a lot of fun. Music for dancing was supplied by Misses Gladys and Iris Hutchings, and an extra was played by Bro. Turley. Supper was served by the ladies of the social committee of the lodge.

WAIUKU. A.successful social was held lay past students in the Oddfellows' Hall, Waiuku, and a very enjoyable time was spent. Extras were: given by Mies M. Barriball, Miss A. Hull and Mr. E. Bulte. The-Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr. R. Wilson and Miss Thomson. Last Friday a Paddy's Market, in aid of a piano for, the Mauku Victory Hall, proved an unqualified success. The arrangements reflected great credit on Mrs. Watson and Mrs. Hill. Their untiring efforts and zeal on behalf of the hall were fully rewarded by the success of the function. In the afternoon business was brisk, while the balance of the pro-* duce was disposed of in the evening.- A very fine entertainment was provided by Mrs. Gee, of Pukekohe, who gave a children's fancy dance display, and Mr. T. H. Midgley, who played selections on the recently-purchased piano. Guessing competitions and candle lighting provided amusement for all. After supper dancing continued till midnight, music being supplied by- Mrs. Torker and Mr. Midgley. At the conclusion of the evening, Mr. Hill, president of the hall committee, thanked one and all who had contributed to the success of the function.
