CHAMPION LAMBS.
NORTH ISLAND WINNERS. HIGH PRAISE IN LONDON.
A very high tribute was pair! by London judges to tlie quality of North Island lamb in connection with the competition organised by the New Zealand Meat Pioducers' Board. The lambs were judged at the end of January, and were featured as a special display at Smithfield. Wairarapa secured the champion shield for the North Island, with South Hawke's Bay second, and Manawatu third. In placing the champion pens, the judges referred to the lambs which formed the three prize-winning pens in the following terms: —"We are of the opinion that these were perfect lambs, and it is scarcely conceivable that anything more suitable could possibly be produced for the London trade. These three pens created an enormous interest." The three carcases in the champion pen were reported upon as: "Ideal in size, of perfect quality and texture, and the make and shine left absolutely nothing to be desired."
