LAND SETTLEMENT.
TKE WAIKATO SCHEME. FINAL APPEAL FOR FUNDS. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") HAMILTON, this day. Owing to illness, Mr. D. V. Bryant, the lion, organiser of the Waikato Land Settlement Society, will be confined to bed for the rest of the week, and will therefore be unable to continue his, canvass on behalf of the fund. It its necessary to have in hand by Friday £10,000, in order that the society may receive the gift of £10,000 from the Auckland Savings Bank. That sum was conditional on a similar amount being raised. Mr. Bryant said to-day that the objective had been nearly reached, and it would be a great pity if the scheme failed for the want of a few pounds. Therefore the smallest sume would be thankfully received. Additional amounts received were:— M. Hawkes £4, J. H. La wry £1 1/, J. W. Tattersiiekl £10, H. C. Aickin £1.
