ANCIENT LAW.

INVOKED IN ATJSTRAIJA. An Act of Parliament passed in England in 1381 was invoked as the basis of a charge of breaking and entering against Leonard Turner and William Dogan at the Queanbeyan Police Court. The defnedants were charged that "for that they did on March 9, 1933, make entry into lands and tenements of one George Nairn Morton in McQuoid Street, in the town of Queanbeyan, with strong hand and with multitude of people, and not in a lawful and peaceable and easy manner and contrary to the law provided." Counsel for the defendants strongly criticised the action, which used an ancient source of law for the charge. He asked for an adjournment, as he was not prepared to continue with the case without knowledge of the ancient Act. Bail was fixed at £20.
