"MORE WEAK THAN BAD."

PROBATION FOR THEFT OF TOOLS. "He's more weak than bad, and is quite all right when he is sober," said the Rev. Jasper Calder, referring to William James Rowe, who appeared in the Police Court this morning, when he pleaded guilty to stealing tools valued at £4 10/, the property of the Auckland City Mission. Detective-Sergeant McHugh said Rowe had been allowed to use the City Mission's workshop to repair boots, and while there he stole the tools. Mr. Calder said the trouble was that Rowe got on a drinking bout, and that it was then that the tools disappeared. Rowe was placed on probation for a period of two years.
