RUGBY FOOTBALL.

MARIST BROTHERS OLD BOYS' CLUB. The retiring president, Mr. T. J. Buxton, presided over an attendance of more than 100 members at the annual meeting of the Marist Brothers Old Boys' Rugby Football Club, at Vermont Street school on Monday evening. The president referred to the- untimely death of the late Reverend Brother Calixtus, two days after the previous annual general meeting, and as a mark of resoect the members stood in silence for a short period. It was decided to hold a commemorative general communion of members, for the repose of his soul and to mark the first anniversary of his death, at the Sacred Heart Church on Sunday next at 9 o'clock. The secretary's report disclosed a very satisfactory year. The senior team' included several promoted juniors, and, after winning the Spillane Cup at the Easter tournament, was again one of the four teams chosen to play off for the Gallagher Shiejd. In the majority of cases the junior teams were promoted one grade, and, though not finishing at the head of the lists, played good football, and should benefit by their experience. The club had been fortunate.in obtaining the assistance of good men as coaches, and extended their thanks to them. • Practice for those available for the trip to Wanganui had already commenced, and it was decided that the remaining grades commence next Saturday at the college. A vote of thanks was accorded the retiring ofllcers, particular mention being made of the valuable work done by the secretary, Mr. G. T. Foy. COLLEGE RIFLES.

Colonel T. H. Dawson presided at last night's annual meeting of the Collage Rifles Rugby Football Club, when officers plected for the season were:—Patron, Colonel C. T. Major; president. Colonel T. H. Dawson : secretary. Mr. W. S. Kirk; assistant-secretary and trepsuror. Mr. A. D. Thomson ; club captain. Mr. T. C. Webb; management committee, Messrs. G. A. Clay, TJ. Smith, T>. Lawford, l>. E. Brown, K. G. Ksson. P. Hibbard. V. Wilson, S. G. Wales. H. Richardson, D. Spragg; delegate's to the Auckland Rugby Union, Messrs. IT. Frost. F. 'Sutherland and T. H. Dawson ; delegate to junior management board, Mr. A. Tilly. The retiort stated that although no championship honours were gained, the club enjoyed a very pood year, with plenty of enthusiastic, members, and there was no doubt the all-round standard of play was higher when compared with the previous two or three seasons. Congratulations were extended to C. Stone and P. Williams on gaining their Auckland representative "<ips. also to N. Granville and H. Gordon for caining junior renrpsentativp honours. The senior team finished sixth on the "hampiorishin list for the season and was the best senior team the olub had placed : n th" field for some seasons. The seniors, and for that matter, the whole club, were exceedingly unfortunate in the number of injuries that were suffered during the season.
