FLUCTUATIONS IN SHARES.

BUSINESS STILL BRISK. A good list of sales has been finalised on the Auckland Stock Exchange over the last 24 hours, and the market generally displays a healthy tone, although invest- j ments are still confined within narrow limits. Government stocks are still in good demand., and there, has been a slight firming in prices. At this morning's call, after fresh business had been put through, there were buyers for the 4M>'s at £9(3 15/ and for S'/i's at £98 10/ to £98 12/6. Colonial Sugars eased a shade, and after a parcel had changed hands 2/6 lower, at £54', buyers dropped back to £53 15/. The banking section was steady and insurances very firm. New Zealands were asked for at £2 6/3 and South British at £3 1/. Pukemiro Collieries were offered 6d lower, at £1 2/6. Waihis continued recent slight improvement, with a sale at £1 0/8 and more wanted. The Noon Call. Good business in Government securities was done at the noon call. War bonds' of the 193S issue sold on a level with recent values. For 1937 September stock there was an. unexpected easing, but at the reduced price there was keen buying. South British reached their highest price for several years, showing an advance of 9d since the previous sales. There were further buyers in the market at 1/ below, but no more scrip was offering. Huddart, Parkers were close to their recent .values. Waihis maintained their improvement, this' morning's value being confirmed by further transactions at the same figure. SALES COMPLETED. Last Sale.
