HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

CUPS AND MEDALS. The Auckland Horticultural Society's dahlia show, -which was opened yesterday, was continued to-day and v.ill close tonight. There are about 5000 varieties of dahlias on exhibit, ranging from the tiny pompoms, only an inch in diameter, to the decorative types nearly a foot across. The most perfect largo dahlia is that exhibited by Mr. G. W. Wright. It measures lljin by 7in through. Mr. Wright Bald that the present show surpassed anything he had seen in either England for France. The best of the imported varieties, were, if anything, a little inferior to tho best of the locally-grown. Additional awards are :— Auckland Horticultural Society's Challenge Cup and Royal Horticultural Society's bronze medal: A. J. Shailer and Son: Wright Challenge Cup and R.H.S. bronze medal: K. Hart. Spencer Challenge Cup: H. M. Hammond. R.H.S. silver medal: Hay's Nurseries. R.H.S. bronze medal : Mrs. K. M. Kerr. Ttinfield, Potter Challenge Cup: Mrs. R. S. Whiteley. Roberts Shield: C. J. Low.
