SPEEDWELL CUP.
NINE BOATS IN FINAL. The final race for the Speedwell Cup for tho Wakatere class will be sailed to-morrow afternoon, starting and finishing off the Kohl wharf. The competitors are the three placed boats in a series of heats held during the past three weeks. The first race was held off Narrow Neck, Devonport, on February IS. Wiritoa, Walata and Wairiki qualifying for the final. Tho second heat was sailed over the Devonport Club's course on February 25, when Wakatere, Waimea and Whakawhero qualified. Last Saturday over the Tamaki course, Wahine, Waimii nnd Wniola gained the places, and the nine boats will start off the mark in the final to-morrow, under the direction of the Tamnki Yacht Club. Mr. J.. Hislop, representative of the donors of the cup, Messrs. Walker and Hall, will be asked to judge this race, which carries a silver miniature to be won outright: r.lso prizes of £2, £1 and 10/, subscribed by the three clubs. The race will start at 3.2 p.m. sharp, to be followed at 3.10 p.m. by a handicap race for the boats of this class not competing for the cup. The course for both championship and handicap will he from off Kohi wharf, round mark off St. Helier's. thence outside Bean Kock light, thence round Bastion beacon, finishing at Kohi wharf, keeping all marks to port. Competitors : Wiritoa. Wakntere. Wrihlne, Waiata. Waimra. Wainui, Wairiki, Whakawhero and Waiola, all scratch.
