AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION.

INTBR-CLUG COMPETITION'S. Owing to the Stanley Street, courts being unfit for play on account of Fridny's overnight rain, the Caro Cup tennis final between Remuera and Eden and Epsom was postponed. Other matches resulted : — SECOND GRADE. Remuera beat Y.M.C.A. by eight rubbers to two. , , . . Deronport beat Royal Oak by sis rubbers to four. FOURTH GRADE. St. Ilelier's beat Devonport (at Devonport), by seven rubbers to three. United beat St. Heller's (at St. Heller s), by 120 games to 112 (5 rubbers and 12 sets apiece). Mount Albert beat Birkdalc by six rubbers to two, the remaining couple being unfinished. I • FIFTH GRADE. Pukcora beat 'Bayfield by six rubbers to four. ■ WEST END CLUB. "President's Day," to mark the first anniversary of the West End Tennis Club, was celebrated on Saturday afternoon, and, in spite of the threatening weather, attracted a large gathering of members and friends, who were-welcomed and entertained by the president, Mr. Stan Cleal, and Mrs. Cleal. A birthday cake was specially made for the occasion by Mrs. Don Wright. The president gave a resume of the season's activities, and paid a high tribute to the Auckland City Council parks committee, which had so generously assisted the district by providing the splendid courts that had made the club possible, and were officially opened by Mr. G. E. Taylor, chairman of the parks comljittee, on February 6, 1032. Mr. Clenl nrso referred *to the success achieved by club members in winning the section in the Auckland Eawn Tennis Association's C grade competition, while the ladles' championship in the same grade was annexed by Miss Meiklejohn, and the mixed doubles by Miss Meiklejohn and Mr. F. Robinson. A Yankee tournament was staged for the afternoon, the prize winners being:— Ladies, Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Redwood, and Miss S. Phillips; men, Mr. F. Robinson, Mr. J. Mayson and Mr. K. Hosklng. In the evening a social and dance was held in the pavilion, and provided a fitting finale to a most successful and enjoyable anniversary.
