CAPTAIN'S FIVE CENTURIES. In scoring a century in the Plunket Shield match Wellington v. Auckland, Ken James, t'he visiting skipper, equalled the performance of the Auckland captain, Lindsay Weir, in notching five hundreds in Shield games. James' previous three-figure scores were: 107 not out, v. Otago, 1926-710S, y. Otago, 1927-S; 10S, v. Auckland; 1927-S; 109, not out, v. Canterbury, 1925-9.
